The End of the World - Postponed

The end of the world -a phrase that humans use to define an event that will lead to their perish. But actually such accident will most likely not happen.  

Yes it’s possible that humanity vanishes in the near or not so near future, maybe even the Earth and Milk way will be destroyed sooner or later, but there will still be  the endless space. It looks like humans are very high-handed and selfish creatures – to think that after their death everything will be over.

Recently, we -people have come to realise that our behavior is getting out of hand. We have been damaging nature and now are paying the consequences. The time has come for us to understand that we weren’t given a free hand here on Earth. Maybe thinking about this make us see that we are just transitional beings, and we can disappear just as fast and mysteriously as we appeared here.

The 21^st of December – a date that we in no doubt will remember for a long time. Will our planet be destroyed by an asteroid? Maybe a super volcano will erupt?  The most powerful earthquake will put end to life as we know it? Or on the contrary humans will kill themselves?  Actually the last scenario is most likely to happen, but still not in the near future. Many people are preparing for different variations of the apocalypse. Others just laugh at the idea. In all likelihood there will be suicides of fanatics.

Humans won’t have to be afraid of the end of the world if they get it through their heads that the Earth isn’t their property. Were we to die, the planet would continue on living for a long time after that. But were our home to be destroyed we will vanish together. We have to hand it to nature – after all the destruction we have done she still give us a chance to prove that we are worth living.

It has come to this – the end of the world- a phrase that nobody will have to use soon, if we start thinking about our home.
